چکیده

Purpose of the study The first antiretroviral therapy was introduced in Vietnam in 1990 and included two nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). More recently, nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs) and protease inhibitors (PIs) were available, particularly through different programmes. In this context, it is interesting to survey the HIV drug resistance and also to determine the main subtypes circulating in this country.

Drug- Resistance- Associated Mutations and HIV Sub-Type Determination in Drug-Naïve and HIV-Positive Patients under Treatment with Antiretroviral Drugs

Abstract Background and Objective: Resistance to antiretroviral agents is a significant concern in clinical management of HIV-infected individuals. Resistance is the result of mutations that develops in the viral protein targeted by antiretroviral agents. Material and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the blood samples of 40 HIV-positive patients were collected. Twenty of them were d...

Characterization of HIV type 1 genotypes and drug resistance mutations among drug-naive HIV type 1-infected patients in Northern Vietnam.

To evaluate HIV-1 drug resistance-associated mutations among drug-naive HIV-1-infected patients in Northern Vietnam, we performed sequence analysis of HIV-1 pol-PR and pol-RT in samples collected from 206 (161 men and 45 women) consenting patients in 2008. From these 206 samples, we successfully sequenced 173 pol-PR and 155 pol-RT genes. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that all patients were inf...

Drug-Resistant HIV-1 RT Gene Mutations in Patients under Treatment with Antiretroviral Drugs (HAART) in Iran

Abstract Background and Objective: Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART) can effectively prevent the progression of HIV-1 replication and increase life expectancy. There are numerous causes of treatment failure and the leading one is drug resistance. Thus, we aimed to determine the HIV RT gene drug resistance mutations in patients treated with antiretroviral medications. Material...

Drug Resistance Profile and Subtyping of HIV-1 RT Gene in Iranian Patients under Treatment

Identification of drug resistant mutations is important in the management of HIV-1 infected patients. The aim of the current study was to evaluate drug resistance profile of RT gene and assess subtype among HIV-1 circulating strains and intensification of physician’s options for the best therapy. HIV-1 RNA of 25 sampleswas extracted from plasma and RT Nested- PCR was performed and the fin...

Prevalence of HIV Drug Resistance Mutations in HIV Type 1 Isolates in Antiretroviral Therapy Naïve Population from Northern India

Objective. The increased use of antiretroviral therapy (ART) has reduced the morbidity and mortality associated with HIV, adversely leading to the emergence of HIV drug resistance (HIVDR). In this study we aim to evaluate the prevalence of HIVDR mutations in ART-naive HIV-1 infected patients from northern India. Design. Analysis was performed using Viroseq genotyping system based on sequencing ...
